Vehicle Towing & Impound

Was my vehicle towed? Call Records at 707-648-4491 with your license plate or VIN.

How do I get my car out of impound?

• Release hours: 9:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. daily (use the gray courtesy phone if the lobby is closed)
• Who can pick up: Only the registered owner, with registration and a valid driver's license. Without a valid license, a friend/relative with one may sign as the driver.
• Recovered (not towed) vehicles: No police release needed — go directly to the tow yard.
• Towed vehicles: Requires a police release. Registered owner must show a valid license and pay a $259.00 tow fee (exact cash, debit, or credit accepted).

VETO Tow (30-day hold) — applies to driving without a license, driving on a suspended license, or reckless driving. Requires a phone hearing with the Hearing Officer at 707-648-4534 before release.

3. Filing Reports

Online Reporting

File online at vallejopd.net → "Get Services" → "File a Police Report" for:

Burglary, Vehicle Burglary, Custody Order Violations, Forgery, Harassing Phone Calls, Identity Theft, Lost Property, Non-Injury Hit and Run, Supplemental Reports, Theft, Theft from Vehicle, Vandalism, Vehicle Accidents, and Vehicle Tampering.

Must Be Reported to an Officer (Not Online)

Call 707-552-3285 for:

• Stolen vehicles
• Stolen license plates
• Any form of physical assault, robbery, or threats of violence

4. Restraining Orders

Restraining orders are filed through the court system, not VPD:

5. Live Scan Fingerprinting

VPD does not provide Live Scan services. Your employer typically directs you to an authorized provider. Find one at the CA DOJ Live Scan locator.

6. Jail & Custody

Booking and custody info is managed by Solano County: Solano County Sheriff — Jail Bookings

7. Code Enforcement

Handled by Planning & Development Services. Common violations investigated:

• Junk, trash, and debris on private property
• Deteriorated roofs, fences, siding
• Unsecured/abandoned pools
• Vehicles on lawns or unpaved surfaces; inoperable/unregistered vehicles on private property
• Trash bins mishandled (blocking sidewalks, out too early/late)
• Graffiti on private property
• Weeds and overgrown vegetation
• Vacant buildings
• Abandoned shopping carts
• Inhabited trailers on private property
• Illegal vehicle repair businesses

Common Elder Fraud Schemes

• Romance scam — fake online romantic interest to exploit victims financially
• Tech support scam — fake IT support gains remote device access
• Grandparent scam — poses as a relative in urgent financial need
• Government impersonation scam — threatens arrest/prosecution unless paid
• Sweepstakes/charity/lottery scam — fake winnings or charity requests requiring a "fee"
• Home repair scam — takes payment upfront, never completes work
• TV/radio scam — fake ads for legitimate-sounding services (reverse mortgages, credit repair)
• Family/caregiver scam — a relative or acquaintance exploits the victim financially

How to Protect Yourself

• Recognize and disengage from scam attempts immediately
• Search online for the contact info/offer — others may have reported it
• Don't act under pressure; scammers manufacture urgency
• Be wary of unsolicited calls, mail, and door-to-door offers
• Never send money, gift cards, checks, wire transfers, or personal info to unverified parties
• Keep antivirus/security software current
• Disconnect from the internet if you see a pop-up or locked screen; use pop-up blockers
• Don't open attachments from unknown senders
• If compromised, contact your financial institutions immediately and monitor accounts

How to Report a Scam

Contact your local FBI field office or file a report at ic3.gov. Include as much of the following as possible:

• Scammer/company name(s)
• Dates and methods of contact
• Phone numbers, emails, addresses, websites used
• Payment method and destination (bank names, account names/numbers)
• Description of the interaction and instructions given
• Any saved documentation (emails, faxes, communication logs)

10. City Ordinances — Traffic-Related

• Spectator Ordinance (Ch. 8.74): Prohibits spectators at illegal street races/reckless driving exhibitions
• Catalytic Converter Ordinance (Ch. 7.73): Prohibits unlawful possession of used catalytic converters
