Katy Miessner

Katy Miessner has been a resident of Vallejo for 26 years and served for nine years on the Vallejo City Council, as a Councilmember and Vice Mayor. She was born in Baltimore and grew up in several Northeast towns and Florida before moving to California.
Now retired, Katy had a long career in Finance; for-profit, non-profit, and government industries. While Budget Director for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Katy oversaw construction budgets for the Infections Diseases Institute in Uganda and traveled to Rwanda to assist with HIV programs. She also worked for the USDA Forest Service as a Grants Management Specialist. Early in her finance career, Katy worked on Section 8 Projects for a Real Estate Management firm.
After moving with her husband to Vallejo in 2000, Katy became interested in Vallejo Government, turned her attention to City finances, and eventually decided to run for City Council.
Katy holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art, paints portraits and landscapes, and sells and shows her work in galleries throughout the Bay Area. She and her husband also like to travel and garden, and they participated in the 2025 Vallejo Garden Tour.
Katy is excited to bring her knowledge to the Chief’s Advisory Board and work with other Board Members, to assist our Police Chief and officers, the City of Vallejo, and the Vallejo Community.
