Vallejo, CA - On July 17, 2023, at around 10:49 AM, the Vallejo Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call regarding a shooting incident on the 200 block of Mini Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two adults, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Immediate medical attention was provided, and both victims were transported to a local trauma center.
Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Zoltan Kent Jr., succumbed to his injuries, while the second victim is expected to recover from her injuries.
The Vallejo Police Department Detective Division responded and took over the investigation. During the course of this investigation, the Vallejo Police Department Detectives identified Gerald Collins, a 23-year-old Vallejo resident and Armando Menendez, a 19-year-old Vallejo resident, as being the responsible suspects in this homicide. This case was presented to the Solano County District Attorney's Office, resulting in the issuance of arrest warrants for Gerald Collins and Armando Menendez.
On August 20, 2023, the U.S. Marshals Service, in collaboration with the Vacaville Police Department S.W.A.T. team, apprehended Gerald Collins in Vacaville, California.
On September 6, 2023, at approximately 11:11 AM, the U.S. Marshals Service in conjunction with the Vallejo Police Department executed an operation that resulted in the arrest of Armando Menendez. Armando Menendez was taken into custody without incident in the 1000 block of Grant Street.
Gerald Collins and Armando Menendez were subsequently booked into the Solano County Jail.
