Vallejo PD Investigates December 18, 2022, Fatal Traffic Collision

VALLEJO, CA - On December 18, 2022, at 7:55 p.m., the Vallejo Police Department received a call of an injury collision in the 4200 block of Sonoma Boulevard involving three cars.


On arrival, officers found that a 2013 BMW SUV collided with a 1965 Chevrolet sedan that was disabled in the roadway. The third vehicle, a 1999 Honda was also struck as it was parked assisting the occupants of the Chevrolet.


The initial investigation revealed the BMW, driven by a 30-year-old Vallejo resident, was traveling northbound on Sonoma Boulevard when it struck the rear of the Chevrolet. The operator of the Chevrolet, a 44-year-old Fairfield resident, was outside of his vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. A female passenger in the Chevrolet, a 48-year-old American Canyon resident, was also injured as was a third person, a 41-year-old Fairfield resident.

The driver of the BMW had objective signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. He was booked into the Solano County Jail.


The name of the decedent is being withheld pending notification of family members.

This is the 24th fatality this year as a result of a collision. This is the highest number of fatalities ever recorded in Vallejo. The Vallejo Police Department urges everyone to drive safely and please do not drink and drive.
