Application Period for the Chief’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) Opens Friday, May 12, 2023
Posted on 05/12/2023
VALLEJO, CA - The Chief’s Community Advisory Board (CAB) is established under the direction of the Chief of Police. The board was created to act as a resource for the Chief in forming strategies, developing community policing concepts, and increasing public awareness. The board provides a forum for discussions concerning community concerns, and the goal is to have a broad spectrum of viewpoints represented. To carry out its purpose, the board will address overcoming problems associated with police-community relations, the improvement of the Vallejo Police Department’s operations, and public safety issues to further enhance the quality of life in our community. Although the CAB is expected to be proactive, it does not have the power or authority to investigate, review or otherwise participate in matters involving specific police personnel or specific police-related incidents, as that is the task that the Police Oversight and Accountability Commission (POAC) is charged with.

The CAB consists of 10-15 key stakeholders, comprised of a diverse cross-section of active community members throughout the City of Vallejo. These members will represent a range of various interests and will possess a wide range of experience, including business ownership, education, non-profit experience, public relations backgrounds, faith-based community leaders and members, local youth representation, and more.

Members must be Vallejo residents or business owners and are selected from the pool of applicants by the Chief of Police.
